BRIEF INTRODUCTION:

A Day of Magic Charitable Trust gifts to those who really need it.

This charity was born out of the belief that everyone who has been diagnosed with a terminal disease deserves one day of pure magic at a time where it’s hard to find joy.

This is a day to share an amazing experience with loved ones before saying goodbye. Creating those everlasting moments, before it is too late.

For most, this is a hugely confronting topic.

But for those who have no choice but to face up to it, it’s a very real thing.

HOW DID THIS MOVEMENT COME ABOUT?

Melanie Quin the founder of this charity found herself in the unfortunate position of hearing about a Bay of Plenty local who had been given only four weeks to live. Melanie was devastated as Kristie was a mum with a similar age & zest for life as herself. She had a similar sporting background, competitive nature and the same ambition and strength which meant she gave everything 100%.

For Melanie this was far too close to home and so she knew she had to act. For her it was only natural to get in touch with Kristie and ask directly “what is something you have never done, but always wanted to do?” Kristie's response was instant: “to fly in a helicopter Mel!” and there the goal for Mel was set. Melanie didn’t sleep or eat for days but what happened was in fact magic in itself. She found her true calling.

Melanie's motivation and enthusiasm combined with a sincere love for people and their happiness conjured up an incredible charity. She approached friends, family and business contacts throughout the Bay of Plenty region and was blown away by their buy-in.

Through her strength and determination she was able to not only gift Kristie one helicopter flight but two which were wrapped up with a day of celebration with friends and family.

Melanie provides professional photography and videography so that the day is never lost. After Kristie's day Melanie just knew there was more to this freak occurance so she followed her gut instinct & through share determination Melanie managed to turn that random day of gifts into a charity which is now a recognized registered New Zealand charity.

For those facing the impossible realisation that they or their loved one has a terminal illness, this really is a little bit of magic that they need at a time of grieving & loss. Its something that most people in the situation would not be able to achieve on their own, but for Melanie it is only natural.

Melanie's friends & family all believe she was born to do this.

'Why do we wait for a funeral to come together?

Why do we not celebrate life while we are all still here to enjoy it?!'

We believe life is to be celebrated, while we still can.
