Our Mission and Impact

A Day of Magic Charitable Trust gifts to those who really need it. Our charity was founded on the belief that everyone who has been diagnosed with a terminal disease deserves one day of pure magic at a time where it’s hard to find joy.

We create opportunities for individuals to share unforgettable experiences with their loved ones before saying their goodbyes. It's about crafting lasting memories.

While this topic may be daunting for many, for those confronting it head-on, it's a stark reality. We are dedicated to making that reality a little brighter, one magical day at a time.

How our charity came about

Melanie Quin, our charity's founder, was deeply moved by the story of Kristie, a local from the Bay of Plenty, who had only four weeks to live. Kristie shared many similarities with Melanie - they were both moms, had a zest for life, a love for sports, and a relentless drive to give their all.

Kristie's situation hit close to home for Melanie, and she felt compelled to take action. She reached out to Kristie and asked a simple question, 'What's something you've always wanted to do?' Kristie's response was immediate: 'To fly in a helicopter, Mel!' That was the spark that ignited Melanie's mission.

Driven by a deep passion for people's happiness, Melanie turned her vision into reality. She rallied support from friends, family, and businesses across the Bay of Plenty, making it possible to not only fulfil Kristie's dream of a helicopter flight but two, along with a day of celebration with loved ones.

Melanie arranged professional photography and videography, ensuring these precious moments are never forgotten. What began as a random act of kindness evolved into a recognised registered New Zealand charity.

Paige Smith | SECRETARY

Hey! I'm Paige and I live here in Tauranga with my partner Ricky and our two boys, Miller and Hudson. I am a local Real Estate agent and have just launched my own company.

The first time I met Mel I knew she was magic, her bubbly personality is hard not to be attracted too! Supporting her in a day of magic is a true honour, she pours her heart and soul into this charity and is really creating something very magical.

I am excited to watch A Day of Magic Charitable Trust grow and flourish and will be here to support Mel with anything!

Supporting Melanie and this wonderful charity is an honor because I firmly believe that 'Doing Good Does You Good.' With an Office Manager background, I now work part-time from home. I've also volunteered for CanTeen and participated in various fundraisers. I'm here to assist Melanie in any way I can as she's the true Magic Maker.

Looking forward to meeting more of the ADOM family as it grows.
